  • Second-most-common reconstitution failure: using sterile water for injection instead of bacteriostatic water for injection.
  • The two products look nearly identical. Same vial size, same clear liquid, similar labels. The difference is the preservative.
  • Sterile water has none. Once you puncture the seal, the multi-dose vial is no longer multi-dose — you have a sterility window of hours, not days. Use it within that window or contamination starts. By day 3, the peptide is in a contaminated environment and aggregation begins.
  • For multi-dose peptide vials that you'll re-puncture multiple times over a week or two, you need bacteriostatic — the benzyl alcohol keeps the vial safe for 28 days refrigerated.
  • If your peptide went cloudy 4-5 days after reconstitution but was clear on day 1, sterile-vs-bacteriostatic is the likely cause.
