What is Silk Peptide?
Silk peptide, or Activated Silk 33B-α, is a bioactive protein otherwise known as Claudin-1. Claudin-1 works on the top layer of the skin, and prevents skin barrier cells from loosening and drifting apart. It tightens the skin junctions and acts as a barrier booster – supporting the skin’s integrity and keeps it firm. It prevents moisture from escaping and environmental stressors from coming in. This ultimately helps to reduce inflammation and signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles.
What should I expect?
Silk peptide utilizes biotechnology that has been cultivated for 10 years to keep the product effective while environmentally friendly. In a clinical trial, it was found to be effective in as little as 7 days – showing the following results:
Significant reduction in transepidermal water loss by 18%
Significant reduction in redness in as little as 7 days
Reduction in appearance of wrinkles by 5%
Silk protein is also non-occlusive and water-soluble, allowing for their positive effects to be ongoing and last longer on the skin and work in areas of the skin that other commercial skincare cannot. In the study which ran over a 28-day period, it was found that 94% of the participants reported younger, healthier looking skin.
